KVfm in CDX magazine/journal

It’s nearly a year since KVfm was on air, but there are stil reverberations, e.g. this article in CDX (Community Development Exchange a national organisation/think tank) which heard about KVfm and wanted to interview me and Carl and do this article. By the way I’m the one on the left.

Toothache

Mine arent  quite as bad as this

About five months ago I had a tooth at the back split. Got a temporary filling but during the last week it started kicking off usually in the night, and despite copious and probably dangerous amounts of paracetamol and ibubrufen the pain would not go away. So yesterday I went to the emergency session at the dentist onSheil Road, and got the temporary filling and made arrangements to get it “extracted” in three weeks time. I could have got it done there and then, but I chickened out. I thought the intervening time would helo me get “me head around it”. One of the main problems with my teeth is they are wrecked, due to excessive sweet consumption in the 50’s and 60’s . I blame my parents in the post rationing period by buying too many sweets as a treat, my brother who is 9 years older and grew up when rationing was still present, he’s never had a filling or extraction. The teeth may be wrecked but the roots are in fantastic condition, and this means when I do get them taken out, they just won’t come out.

The last one was taken out in ‘93 and the dentist had to have a break, and was constantly wiping his brow with effort. After another crap night last night I decided it was me or the tooth, so I jumped the gun, and went in this mornign hoping they could sort me out and take the tooth out. Getting the numbing injection wasnt a problem, but when he started to try and take it out firstly the tooth cracked, then he had to split the tooth by drilling it in half with drill, but after 45 minutes he still ahdnt manged to get it all out, and basically he gave up and left some of the root in there. Hells bells.
