Jingles all the way

October 28, 2008

I have been shooting the video for Happy Birthday Netherley Radio Station which Carl Speare is doing. last week they were recording the jingles and this short scene was one of the highlights, you;vr heard of the three tenors well this is the three/four Ellas……serious or what…CHILL!!

One Friday I think it was that I spotted the new poster on the corner of Beech Street and Prescot road, just across from where KVfm 2009 will be in April and May next….it’s a giant billboard poster for the One World Festival, probably one of the best things Kenny Regen. So I rushed home fired up the laptop so I could visit kensington regeneration’s website to get all the details, and blow me down, there wasn’t owt about it on there….. see if you can find it…

http://www.kensingtonregeneration.com/

no there’s nothing there, as Harry Hill would say (own) GOAL! so much for spending so much on communications.

this excerpt from the delivery implies maybe it should have been, shurely shum mishtake

anyhow just to give you an idea what is happening (apart from the ones you’ve already missed0 here’s the full programme.

see you there!

Kensington Regeneration, BCA Landscapes and Acorn Contractors are currently doing the refurbishment work in the GEARS area of Fairfield. I recently had to walk around the Brae Street area and the Lothian estate and the refurbishment done round in those areas looks good when you are driving past at 30 mph but on closer inspection they leave a lot to be desired, especially the paint jobs on the walls. I cant figure out where they buy this paint from! Anyhow I had higher hopes that they might have learnt their lessons by the time they got to us but alas not, as you can see from the photo the workies decided rather than buying a piece of pipe for a couple of quid taking the broken pipe out and replacing it, they would buy a short piece, fit it into the gap and gaffer the whole lot up, then bury the whole thing under concrete. Well you can imagine I’m not best pleased as if I’d have really wanted a botched job with lots of gaffer tape I could have done it myself and not spent a million quid whcih is what the whole scheme is costing, that gaffer tape is fucking expensive innit.

Recycling the Message

Recycling the Message

We all love a bit of recycling and isn’t it supposed to be a way of saving money and a way of us all saving the world?

Well apparently not, for in far away Kensington, about a year ago there was a very expensive leaflet produced by Kensington Regeneration’s PR Company Kenyon Fraser and Graphics company Kaleidoscope. It’s a lovely piece of original artwork, hopeful (Kids jumping for joy), colourful (lots of stripes), environmental (the kids are leaping over blades of grass). God it must have taken ages to get the young people to jump that high, take the photo at a fast shutter speed, import it in Photoshop, make them silhouettes, layer them, again in Photoshop, colour separate, etc. etc.  It was supposed to encourage young people to get off their lazy arses and make a Yoof Magazine for the area.

Fucking hours of skilful work.  If only I was a teenager again I think it would have inspired me to take part in the project. Alas I am a fat 52 year old bald diabetic, no chance.

Well imagine my surprise when shopping for a diary in the Works on Bold Street where I stumbled across an academic diary, again aimed at “Da Kids” in the same way “Kids in Kenny” is aimed at the same demographic, when I started to get the feeling I had passed this way before, because the robbing bastards at the diary publishers had “stolen” all the hard work done by Kenyon Fraser and Kaleidoscope. I was about to phone Caroline K up and tell her to get Rex Makin on it straight away…..then the truth suddenly dawned, they’d both just been using the same  bit of posh clip art… how stupid did I feel.

Obviously fearful of the environment Kenyon Fraser had decided to recycle the clip art probably not to save the planet, or to save the poor down trodden deprived people of Kensington, but to make quite a bit of money on quick bit of graphic design, for people they don’t care about, except how much money they can milk from the area, (currently about £1.5 million). Anyhos know how much they charged for this bit of deceit? (answers on a postcard please).

Oh yeah the recycling doesn’t stop there, ooooohhh noooo, as the background fo the actual magazine looks suspiciously like the background of the award winning “Smokeless Liverpool Campaign” again a Kenyon Fraser Kaleidoscope production.  Kerching!!!!

unfortunately I cant get any material form Smokeless Liverpool Campaign but when I do I’ll add it to this post.

Any spare change Guvner, alms for the poor…..

The Mighty Kenny Boosh

Apparently the  bloke on the left is Bolo the Gorilla, you can tell cant you, even skinless

The Mighty Booosh

Went out with some people from Kensington Fields Community Centre on the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour , something I’ve seen many times but never been on. I was going along to take some photos of the proceedings for an arts project Barbara Galt is doing. We ended up waiting for an hour as the coach ahd broken down, so off we set and we gets to Penny Lane and everyone gets off and Sue from Kenny fields pulls me over and says “Take a picture of us and that bloke over there from the Mighty Bosch” (the German version), as one of the tourists on the coach was in fact Vince Noir from the Boosh, aka Noel Fielding. Took loads of picture of him as he joined the Beatles throng.

Sue, Myra and the mighty Bosch bloke….my money’s on Sue in a fight!
