 Not the real Bryan Ferry

We went out on Friday 13th to see the fantastci Roxy Magic a brilliant Roxy Music Tribute band. we saw them first last year at the Barbacoa, so as a treat for our friends who are getting married  and relocating to the Canaries in a couple of weeks, we decided to take them to see the band again. It’s great value you get a three course meal, and then the band do two one hour sets covering all the periods of Roxy Music. When I was 16 I was a big fan, and to some extent reading about Bryan Ferry’s rise from working class Geordie lad to Fine Art student and Art Teacher, had an effect on my subsequent dabbling in Fine Art. Anyhow the evening was great, band were really good, food was good, company good. One the way home at about 12.45am I was driving through a set of traffic light (on green I might add) when I noticed something right on the edge of my periferal vision, so I instinctively braked, slow down and then in front of us, hat was probably a stolen car goin though the red lights, missed us by an absolute whisker.  I drove and stopped, and asked whether everyone was ok, which we were. It really wasnt until the next day that the full consequences would have been if the other car had hit us side on, (it was travelling well over 40 mph, Im not sure whether it was being chased, but it didnt even have its’ light on).

Undoubtedly we’d have been seriously injured, and the two people on the nearside may have been killed. The same night in another part of the country six people were killed in a crash, two older people and a car full of young people crashed head on, burst into flames. The people were only identifiable through dental records.

It also made me think that taking a second shorter on something like starting the car, or not going the toilet on the way out may have put us right in the middle of this crash!!!

Makes you think doesnt it…..must get on with the rest of my life…

A night on the tiles

February 26, 2009

Some photos of the reurbishment work going on in our area in Fairfield, the work costing a staggering £1.3 million, seems to have been carried out not by tilers but by individuals either having a night on the tiles or recovering from such self abuses. Now not wanting to nitpick but this doesnt look like it’s been done by a skilled tiler, and in reality despite the fact that I have never tiled before in my life, I think I could have done better. I have just bought a DIY tiling DVD, so if the worse case scenario happens, ie ACORN (the builders) dont fix it, then I’m going to have a go myself.dsc_0295

Friday morning came and when I went out to bring the recycling bin in tucked in forlornly behind the big purple bin was a very sad looking moggy. Looked like a big fat Siamese. I left him out there as Millie doesnt like cats and also the last time I took in a stray I couldnt find the owner and ended up with the cat for four months (also found out why Im not a cat lover). Anyhow when Sheila arrived (cat lover), she brought the cat in we discovered he was little boy. So he started to come round and we decided he was traumatised, and eventually he drank some water, ate some food, shit in my bathroom, and by the smell of it had a wizz around the house somewhere. Such an expensive a rare cat would be mcirochipped (you would hae thought?). So come Saturday morning we decided to take him to a vet to scanned so we can return him home, and as I’m carrying the cat to the car the new neighbour came running out shouting “Smokeeeee” (we’d already decided he was a “Jasper”), apparently the cat had escaped and was quite young and inexperienced, and the nighbour told me she ahd been shouting “Smokkeeee” up and down the back entry and hadnt I heard? Well no, because I didnt know he was called Smokey did I, and to cap it all the stupid woman didnt have the cat the microchipped.
